WHY THE ORCA HITS DIFFERENT

Most muzzleloader bullets are mass-produced lead swages wearing a plastic jacket. The Orca is different — a bullet designed around what actually kills cleanly: straight-line penetration, controlled expansion, and weight that stays together.

  • 1. Solid C145 Tellurium Copper — The Foundation One piece of copper alloy, machined — no jacket, no lead core, no plastic.
  • 2. The Nose — a Missile Profile, Not a Guess The front of the Orca is a truncated Von Kármán curve — the mathematically minimum-drag nose shape from supersonic aerodynamics, the same profile family used on missiles and aircraft, cut to our .265" open tip.
  • 3. The Hollow Point and Skives — Engineered to Open When Others Won't A .235" cavity bored .450" into the nose, with six precision scorelines — skives — cut into the ogive at exactly 60° spacing.
  • 4. The Driving Bands — Two Bands, and Exactly Where They Sit Two raised bearing bands: a .085" band at the base of the nose and a .110" band ahead of the tail. Nothing in between touches the bore.
  • 5. The Relief Groove — Somewhere for the Fouling to Go One wide groove between the bands, recessed .005" below the bore, with ramped 20° shoulders instead of square edges.
  • 6. The Tail — a Skirt That Seals the Barrel Itself The base is machined into a thin-walled skirt: a tapered cavity .300" deep, walls .030" at the mouth thickening to .045" at the root.
  • 7. Three-Zone Heat Treatment — One Bullet, Three Tempers Soft nose, hard middle, soft tail — annealed in zones after machining.
  • 8. The Base Edge — Where Accuracy Is Won or Lost A match-grade base: face square to the bullet's axis within .001", precise chamfer on the heel, radius at the cavity mouth.
  • 9. Built Legal — to the Strictest Rules First Designed to Oregon's muzzleloader-only rules — the toughest in the West — then verified against Idaho and neighboring states.
